LIFEGROUP THIS WEEK: Hearing AND Doing!

Post date: July 21, 2008

This week’s LifeGroup study is “Hearing AND Doing”.  I’m excited about this study because the Word of God seeks to push us to a greater level of not just HEARING (hearing and knowing what we should do or be doing) but rather HEARING and then DOING it. God speaks in many ways (not just through preachers) and sometimes we THINK we hear Him, we THINK we understand but then we DON’T follow through because it’s out of character for us, out of our comfort zone, out of our box. We really WANT to do whatever the Lord is calling us to do but because of SELF, PRIDE or LAZINESS we hesitate or refuse to do it. We are the losers! WE miss a blessing when we don’t follow through with whatever God is calling us to do. This week our church will get the opportunity to STOP, STUDY and get refocused on personally hearing the Lord and then be challenged to DO whatever HE says.  I can’t wait till LifeGroup on Wednesday night to hear what God is already saying and showing our people.  If you want one of our studies or forgot to pick yours up at the ifo center at church – give me a call and i’ll meet you at the church so you can get one. You don’t wanna miss this study!  See you soon!  Pastor James

A Breath Of Fresh Air!!

Post date: July 20, 2008

It was such a blessing to be able to be back in church with the Life House Family this morning.  The people are always upbeat and excited about all that God is doing in their lives and in our new church.  The Lord blessed this morning with another “high” day…we had 41! (41 was our highest attendance two weeks ago). We are excited that even though we haven’t launched yet – we are seeing God continue to grow our numbers. People are visiting, praying and seeking God’s face – that’s exciting!

More in the morning about this upcoming week and our study this week. Headed to bed… Pastor James

Some DO “get it”!!

Post date: July 18, 2008

After recommending the book “THE DEBT” recently… a friend of ours borrowed it and literally devoured it. She read it in a couple of days and sent it back. I asked what she got from the book and these were here words (and I don’t think she would mind me sharing them with you)…” I can understand your calling to College Hill now.  I got from it (the book) that people don’t care about  other people unless it benefits them..”  YES SHE GOT IT!  It’s not about making ONE CHURCH grow or have the glory – it’s about building the Kingdom for Jesus. Some have said – what if you have events, give out food and the people take it and not one of them come to your church but go somewhere else???? WELLLL, it’s our job to show Jesus love, plant seeds and pray. It’s HIS JOB to grow that seed and hopefully that person will come into a saving knowledge of Jesus or may “come back” to the Lord.  Where? It’s not up to me…If they show up at South Texarkana Church, Beech Street Church, Cornerstone Church or maybe even show up at Life House…AMEN AND AMEN!  As long as they go to a church that is teaching God’s Word and that teaches that Jesus and His blood is the only WAY TO GET TO HEAVEN – i’m cool!  It’s our calling and business to touch and reach people…and it’s the Holy Spirit’s job to draw them, save them, change them and make them what God wants. If it’s just about our little church, our little kingdom, our little world…then we aren’t making much difference for the kingdom but when you get a “KINGDOM MINDSET” then you follow the King and let the KING lead you and do whatever He desires! You know it really takes a load off of me – cause it’s all up to the King…and not me and you!  Whew! Glad someone “GOT IT”!  Pastor James

Pressing On!

Post date: July 18, 2008

I’m not really used to having this much “time” on my hands and i’m really ready to get back to life as it was.  If all goes as planned I am going to try to preach Sunday and then get back in the “game of life” next week full swing. I have a couple of follow up dr’s visits which I will try to fit in my schedule (lol) but other than that I hope to at least hobble through it and get back on the road of life.

In spite of my injury and time at home – life has gone on. The world keeps turning and people keep living. I’m so thankful for all of our family and friends through this time.  I can see God’s hand in many areas and I know that He is using all of this for His glory and our good.  I am seeing some “step up to the plate” and doing things and taking on responsibilities that are exciting.  If it had not been for this time they might have still be in the “limelight” and not stepped up. The church has continued to press on. The carpet has been layed, some electrical and other problems have been tackled and fixed and services have gone on. God is soo good!  I am excited about the future for us and for this new work. In a few short days we will have another “Front Yard Bible Bash” and we will be able to get into the community again. Begin now praying that we will see some great things come about.  Following that event will be our first ever, Vacation Bible School on August 4-8.  Then on the 10th we will have our officially “launch” as a church and ministry. God has some great plans for us and I can’t wait to see them. Pray that through it all – souls will be saved, lives, changed, homes touched, hearts revived and the Kingdom blessed because all that Life House Church & Ministries seeks to do.  We want to follow the Lord and His will. Keep praying for us and get involved in any way you can.  Praise Him for the blessing of serving Him in these last days.  I love you all.  Pastor James

P.S. Thanks so much to all who have cooked for us, sent cards, gifts, called, come by, run errands and done anything during this trying time. You are a blessing to us and we thank God for you.  With much love and appreciation — Pastor James & Cindy.

Suggestion – Read It Soon!

Post date: July 15, 2008

With nothing but time on my hands i’ve spent alot of time healing, sleeping, watching tv, eating, talking to folks on the phone and even reading.  I ran across a book in Cindy’s book collection that i’d never seen and thought it looked like a good read.  Boy was I suprised! God really used this book to open my eyes to some things that He had already begun to deal with me about before but now has certainly confirmed some things in my life, our lives and in our new ministry. I want to challenge every CHRISTIAN to read this book. Don’t spend months doing it. Read it with an open heart and mind and ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you.  If you are in christian ministry – I especially challenge you to read it.  The title:  “THE DEBT” by Angela Hunt. It’s a christian fiction but a book well worth your time.

I don’t want to “ruin” it for any of you that are seriously planning on reading it but let me close by saying – GOD HELP US – THOSE of us who are so saturated with “CHRISTIAN” living that we never really get down to living for Jesus.   I’m convicted.   Take a read and get back to me.    James

I’ve Finally Got Proof!!

Post date: July 14, 2008

For years lots of people have thought that my head was harder than concrete – but now i’ve finally got proof that it isn’t!  After this recent accident the concrete really did a number on me and i’m broken, bruised, scraped but not down and out!!  This old body will take time to heal but it could have been much worse.  I am thankful to the Lord for His blessings and protection through it all.  Romans 8:28 is still in the book and this is for my good and hopefully His glory.  I’m thankful for Cindy who has always been my right arm, but now is my right and left literally. She is going above and beyond and will get lots of stars in her crown someday for it i’m sure!!  The boys and their wives have stood by us and showered us with love, attention and care.  We are blessed. Our church family, many, many friends, sister churches and my Weight Watchers family have all been so supportive,  Thank you to everyone for everything!  Continue to pray for us and know that you are always welcome to come by, call and even stay awhile.  I’ll share almost anything with you but my pain meds – you gotta bring your own lol!!  Again thanks for all everyone has done.  James

Down But Not Out!

Post date: July 13, 2008

My recent accident has put a little damper on my usual schedule and activities but I am sure that in a matter of time I will be back on my scooter and going again. The Lord has been so good to me and He is using what could have been bad for His good.  I am so greatful for my family during this whole time. Cindy has stood by me, washed, cleaned, fed, bandaged, prayed for and done everything that needed to be done and more!  Thanks Babe! I love you!  The boys have both stepped up and taken care of needed areas that I couldn’t handle at this time – we are blessed to have the best kids anywhere!  Thanks guys – I love you both!  Also, thanks to our daghters-in-law – both of which have been there for us during this time. Thanks for all  you do – we love you both too!   Also, thanks so much to all of our family and friends who have called, sent cards, come by, brought food, gifts, and more. It’s a blessing to have all of you in our lives.  Your prayers are especially appreciated!  Sooo…enough of this “one-handed” typing. I’m tired. More later.  Love all of you!!!  James

Beware of Dogs!!

Post date: July 10, 2008

The Word says to “beware of dogs” and I really should have listened! I realize that the scriptures weren’t talking about the four legged kind of dogs but sometimes it would do us good to watch out for them too! This past Tuesday night, on my way home from Weight Watchers, I took a short cut to avoid the traffic on hwy 59 and right out of the blue a large dog (looked like a rotwiller) ran right in front of me and I flipped my scooter. The last thing I remember was seeing the dog and then I woke up in the ambulance. After much testing … I broke four bones in my face, my shoulder blade, and some ribs. All in all I have much to be thankful for because it could have been a lot worse. I have a ways to go recuperating, but I have been blessed to have seen so many friends (even those I missed because I was “drugged up”!). A great big thank you goes out to all who have called, come by, sent gifts, and anything else you might have done. Thanks most of all for your prayers. Don’t stop praying for me and most of all, pray for Cindy because she has to put up with me. Thanks again. Keep praying. Pastor James

Putting Your Hands Where Your Mouth Is!

Post date: July 7, 2008

First Baptist, Lewisville, Arkansas has been a partner church from the inception of Life House. They have given liberally every month to help us get this work off the ground.  They have donated items to our new ministry time and again. Then today – they brought a group of people from their church – of all ages – and they put their hearts and love in action.  They didn’t just talk a good talk but this group came at their own expense and they worked HARD to clear out, paint andget our Children’s/After School Area ready to be carpeted in the near future.  They worked hard together, laughed together, sweated together and shared their heart for souls with us. They aren’t a “mega- church” but one thing for sure they have a HUGE heart for missons. I know God is going to bless Bro. Bobby, Mrs. Bridgette and the entire First Baptist Church – Lewisville, AR because of their love for missions. Anyone could write a check but to take your time and give your physical effort really speaks volumes about your love for souls and missions. Thanks FBC Lewisville for being a blessing to the Lord and to the Life House Church Family!  Soon there should be some pictures in our gallery on this site for you to enjoy of the day this group spent working at Life House. Stop by later and get a look!  Pastor James
