A special “congrats” to Pastor Charles & Mrs. Ericca Jordan. Today we announce that Pastor Charles will officially become Campus Pastor at Life House Church New Boston beginning December 4, 2011. Pray for him and his family as they lead out and help reach the city of New Boston, Texas. Our ministry in New Boston has a good start and the need for consistent leadership and a campus pastor who can be the “boots on the ground” leader was evident. Pastor Charles and family have a heart for New Boston and desire to see the campus grow and reach souls. God has big things in store for this great campus. Today one young adult lady was saved and we’ve already had several baptisms in the few weeks we have been having service there. Pray that God will continue to lead good strong workers to help us reach souls for the kingdom. Congrats to my brother and friend! We are expecting God to “show up and show out” on a regular basis at Life House New Boston. Pray and expect great things!! Pastor James

DISCRETION: “Recognizing and avoiding words, actions and attitudes which would bring undesirable consequences.”
Proverbs 22:3 ” A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.”
Each week at Life House we try to focus on a character word. This week is Discretion (vs. simplemindedness). Discretion causes people to stop and consider what will happen if they take a certain step of action. If there are negative consequences, discretion dismisses the idea. If there are positive results, discretion prompts people to continue.
Discretion also weighs the immediate consequences of words and actions against their long term outcomes. Though the immediate results may be humiliating or embarrassing, the short term is small and brief when compared to the enduring consequences of wrong choices. Few people regret thing that they have NOT said or done. Many people regret the things they HAVE said and done.
THINK ABOUT IT – MEDITATE ON IT – PRACTICE IT!!
I am looking forward to helping serve a huge Thanksgiving meal at Life House Texarkana tomorrow at noon. Pray that we can be a blessing to the hungry and homeless that come our way. If you would like to come join us you would be more than welcome to do so. Give me a call at 903-278-0984 for more info. Pastor James *** Love God. Love People. Prove it!! ***
My friend here is a note – just because you are texting, typing, or posting words, they still have the same effect as if they were spoken. Words can motivate a person or decimate a person faster that the speed of light. So, when you hit the send button be sure that what you are sending is truly worth saying. Be sure that the “killer post” that you spent minutes writing and hours editing can be read through the lenses of the Gospel; pleasing in the sight of your Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Recently, I read several posts on Facebook that had the potential to escalate into what I call a “tongue tornado”. The duelists were professed Christians who were not armed with the Word of God, but with slander and contempt. Condescending statements were flying. The summary of it all being that because we are Christians we are somehow “called” to join with the world en masse and pounce on our common enemies.
YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN! Repeat it to yourself! If you profess salvation through Jesus Christ, and have the audacity to say that He is your Master, along with the nerve to say that you are chained to Him, what gave you the right to choose sides? What gives you the authority to then belittle others for opposing views? Isn’t it amazing that in this era defined by tension and hostility in the world, we, Christians, are leading the charge away from the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Son of the Most High God, who is God?
The nonbeliever will never accept a Gospel that is absent from Christ Jesus no matter how it is presented and dressed up. Who wants to be argumentative, hateful, lustful, deceitful, slanderous, condescending, and spiteful? This is not the fruit of the spirit, but the fruit of the world.
Believers elevate Christ Jesus, as both Lord and Master, and all will come to know His great name. My friends you must decrease so that He may increase. The bible teaches us these simple things. Please flee from the traps that are being set. They are meant to snag you only for a moment or season so that you may be separated from the Body of Christ. Post love, and joy, maybe even a little peace, forbearance, or kindness; throw in some goodness, faithfulness, and gentleness, but most of all have some SELF-CONTROL. Let the Redeemed Say So.
One of the many ministries at Life House is the Life House Community Cafe’. We pick up the hungry and homeless from downtown Texarkana as well as those in the Texarkana area who need a hot meal each Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. We serve lunch on Tuesday and Friday and breakfast on Sunday morning. On Tuesday night we feed 7th – 12th grade students and on Wednesday nights children thru 6th grade. We go through alot of food, gas and most of all LOTS OF LOVE. We have seen our number drastically increase due to this stagnant economy. While we don’t serve lobster or Filet Mignon – we do serve good hot home cooked meals with large portions. We are thankful that God has been faithful to supply us with the food, the volunteers and the energy to do this. THANK YOU to everyone who gives, prays, volunteers or supports Life House Community Cafe’ or even God’s Closet (in both locations) in any way. BECAUSE OF YOU we are able to do what we do. Pray for us and come see it for yourself. If you are looking for a way to be a blessing – come by and we will give you a tour and share the work with you. Volunteer some time – you will leave feeling that you have helped someone along life’s way. It’s great to serve our Jesus. Matthew 25:34-40. “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Sunday 240 plates of love, today 220 – who knows what Friday will bring. We can’t wait!!
Matt is working on updating and renewing our website and we want you to come join us on it! Go to www.life-house.us and watch for all of the “new” things that are being added. THANKS MATT! It’s going to be great!!
