STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSES MOUTH:
A NEW SEASON IS HERE – PRAY!
This past Sunday I shared with the Life House Texarkana family that God is moving us into a new season.
Almost 9 years ago (first Sunday in May 2008) 16 people gathered on the outside of our present building to conduct the first service of a new church plant called Life House. By faith we believed that God wanted us to love, reach and share LIFE with College Hill and the world. Over these past nine years we have seen miracle after miracle! Countless souls have been saved and many have followed the Lord in Believers Baptism. We have seen lives changed, addictions broken, families restored, marriages saved and much more! ALL GLORY BELONGS TO JESUS! It’s been awesome to see the growth that God has given the church and the church family. In these past nine years we have seen many facets to the church added to reach, help and bless the community – from children and youth programs to the after school academy. The Lord has enabled us to do weekly feeding, emergency food ministry, commodity ministry, addiction ministry, recovery ministry, neighborhood outreach ministry and so much more. We have been blessed to be able to offer God’s Closet as a way to help those who are needy obtain clothing, housewares, furniture and more FREE two days a week. Through it all God has given us countless partners, from other churches and businesses, who helped us be the hands and feet of Jesus in this neighborhood. It’s amazing what God can do with a handful of believers who are sold out to love others like Jesus!
NOW – WE ENTER A NEW SEASON. God has great plans for Life House Texarkana. We are praying, planning and preparing for God to send the “next man” to come lead this great church. We are praying for a “Matthew 25” pastor to come take this church to even greater heights in the future. The next man will have to love all people like Jesus (the poor, addicted, hungry, hurting, angry and the searching). He will have to have a burden to feed, clothe, visit jails/prison, reach those nobody else wants. He will have to “give his life away” for the gospel sake in this place. He must have a strong desire to “RESCUE THE PERISHING and CARE FOR THE DYING”. This ministry has been described as one that is “camped one foot from the gate of hell and does all it can to snatch the perishing before the enter there” with the love of Jesus. He must give his all to SHARE LIFE – John 10:10 with College Hill and the world. He must have a burden for this ministry field and realize it’s not about money but mission. It’s not about popularity but people. It’s not about a name but lifting up the name of Jesus. Would you join us in praying that God would send the RIGHT ONE to lead this great church into the future? (Side note: this man will be one who can support our doctrinal statement – “Baptist Faith & Message 2000”).
Several have asked, “Why are you leaving?”. Good question. For the past several months God has made it clear to Cindy and myself that we have led this church as far as He desires us to. Many church planters are at a church plant from 3 to 5 years – we’ve been here 9. We love our life house family – this church is like our “baby”. There are no problems in the church, no division or reason from within that would make us want to transition to the next phase of our lives and ministry. As a matter of fact, Life House is at a high – since January 1, 2017 we have been blessed to see 6 souls saved, 19 baptized and 19 new members. Attendance is at an all time high and unity is strong. Yet, we know that it’s time for the “next season” for both us and Life House. What are our plans? If all goes as we feel God is leading, we will be relocating to the Charleston, South Carolina area. We are praying about future ministry and we are open to God’s leading. We have always been involved in Church Revitalization Ministry and Church Planting. That’s where my heart is. However, we are open to pastoring a traditional church or wherever God wants us. Won’t you pray for us as we seek God’s direction and will?
Thank you to all who have supported us with your time, gifts, prayers and more over the years. Life House will still need your support and so will we. Know that we love the Life House family more than words could say and desire to see only greater growth for them now and in the future. Again, pray for us because there are many things to be done before the transition takes place. We love you all and thanks for the prayers.
